Already with dozens of new works, created in close collaboration with some of the most innovative composers of our time, Ensemble Schwerpunkt's goal is to expand upon the conventional tonal and instrumental possibilities of the brass repertoire.

Ensemble Schwerpunkt return to the Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik where they will premiere three major new works that have been commissioned by the group.
We are honoured that the eminent Austrian composer Johannes Maria Staud has long wanted to write for Schwerpunkt. Jagende Wolken, blendendes Blau, is an explosive, political tour de force composed with the ensemble in mind and takes its name from a poem by Arno Holz.
In response to our commission, the young Serbo-Croat composer Sonja Mutić has created unvoiced, a new piece for brass quintet and multichannel electronics which carries a personal reflection on inheritance and collective memory.
New Yorker Peter Evans is a stand-alone artist: free improviser, peerless interpreter of some of the most fearsome works written for the trumpet and composer - his new quintet for Schwerpunkt marks what we hope will be the beginning of a longer collaboration with Evans.
